The incredible efforts of the Run the Runway 2024 community were celebrated with the
official cheque presentation.
A remarkable £150,000 raised from the event was distributed equally among three deserving charities, with representatives from each organisation receiving their £50,000 cheques during a festive ceremony.
The beneficiaries include:
Doing It for Daniel Foundation – Supporting young cancer patients, funding special
gifts, experiences, days and holidays as well as research into childhood brain cancer.
Beatson Cancer Charity – Enhancing the lives of those affected by cancer through
care, support services and funding scientific research.
Ayrshire Hospice – Improving the lives of those affected by life-limiting illness by
delivering exceptional care.
Airport CEO Ian Forgie said:
Run the Runway 2024 has been a celebration of resilience, togetherness, and giving back.
It’s deeply moving to see the event’s impact as these funds go toward helping so many
people. Too many of us have personally experienced cancer and others have lost loved ones
to the disease, and this event was a chance to make a meaningful difference in their
memory.
The funds were raised through the participation of almost 1,000 runners and walkers who
took on 10k and 5k challenges on the airport’s two runways. Their efforts, along with the
generosity of event sponsor LAML Airfield Contractors, and the dedication of volunteers,
medal suppliers, musicians, and local businesses, made this event a phenomenal success.
A huge thank you to all runners, walkers and volunteers.
This cheque presentation is a reminder of what’s possible when a community unites for a
shared purpose. As we celebrate this achievement, plans are already in motion for Run the
Runway 2025, next November.
