A76 Horsecleugh to Glenramskill closed this weekend

As part of Transport Scotland’s strategic trunk road management programme, Scotland TranServ will resurface 680 metres of the A76 between Horsecleugh Underpass and Glenramskill Avenue, near Cumnock.

In order to complete this £345k resurfacing programme as quickly and safely as possible, it will be necessary to implement a weekend closure of the trunk road between 8pm on Friday 28thSeptember and 6am on Monday 1st of October, with an additional four OVERNIGHT closures from Monday to Thursday.

Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ’s Principal Road Design Engineer said:

“Scotland TranServ has been working closely with local authorities, emergency services and key local stakeholders to carefully plan these works, in order to cause minimal disruption to the local community and businesses using the route.

“The trunk road was impacted by the prolonged winter’s repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and is in need of repair. We intend maximising the efficiency of this trunk road closure, which will also include additional carriageway resurfacing on approach to Dettingen Roundabout and the remaining resurfacing at Pennylands which was previously prevented by extreme wet weather.”

In order to carry out these resurfacing projects, it will be necessary to close the A76 during the following times:

  • 8pm Friday 28th September to 6am Monday 1st October

  • 8pm Monday 1st to 6am Tuesday 2nd October

  • 8pm Tuesday 2nd to 6am Wednesday 3rd October

  • 8pm Wednesday 3rd to 6am Thursday 4th October

  • 8pm Thursday 4th to 6am Friday 5th October
