Ayr MSP Siobhian Brown and Councillor George Weir are calling for an urgent

traffic review in the Dunure Road area of Doonfoot following concerns over

speeding incidents and growing traffic volume.

Over the past few years, more than 300 new homes have been built in the

area, contributing to a significant increase in traffic. Residents have frequently

raised concerns about the safety of pedestrians, especially children walking to

school, as the volume of vehicles continues to rise.

Commenting Siobhian Brown MSP said:

“We have been hearing from many local residents about their concerns

regarding speeding and traffic congestion on Dunure Road. The rapid growth

of the area and the increase in traffic, it is vital that we assess the situation

thoroughly and ensure we are doing everything we can to protect our

community, especially vulnerable pedestrians.”

Councillor George Weir added:

“As the local community expands, so must our efforts to improve safety. The

concerns raised by residents about speeding are not to be taken lightly. We

want to ensure that all traffic management options are considered to make

this area safer for everyone, particularly children who are walking to school.”

Both the SNP MSP and Councillor are calling for an immediate review of traffic

conditions in the Dunure Road area. They are urging the Ayrshire Roads

Alliance and Police Scotland to assess potential measures to slow traffic,

improve pedestrian safety, and better manage the increased volume of

vehicles.

Siobhian Brown MSP went on to say:

“We are committed to working with the ARA and Police Scotland to find

practical solutions that make our streets safer. Our priority is ensuring the

safety of all residents, particularly our young people who need to get to school

safely every day.”

Local residents are encouraged to continue sharing their concerns with both

Siobhian Brown MSP and Councillor Weir as the call for a review moves

forward.
