Ayr SNP MSP Siobhian Brown has praised the vital work of SeAscape, a local
charity providing essential support for people facing homelessness and
hardship.

Following a recent meeting with SeAscape’s Chief Executive Kelsey
Kane and team member Beverly Campbell, the MSP expressed admiration for
the organisation’s dedication and called on the community to support their
life-changing projects.
SeAscape runs a range of initiatives aimed at helping people build stable lives
and strong community connections, including their “Pass It On” scheme, a
Befriending Project, and community support hubs.
The “Pass It On” scheme takes a wide range of donated household items from
fridges, freezers, and cookers to crockery, chairs, and tables. All items are
cleaned, repaired, and tested to meet current safety standards before being
passed on to people moving into accommodation without any furnishings. The
scheme provides 8–15 emergency deliveries each week, helping people turn
empty properties into comfortable homes.
Their Befriending Project has been running for more than 10 years, supporting
anyone over the age of 16 who may be feeling isolated. It helps people build
relationships within their community and serves as a homelessness prevention tool.
The project is currently looking for volunteers to help expand its reach
and provide more one-to-one support. The charity’s support hubs are open to anyone seeking advice and assistance, offering a welcoming and accessible space for those in need.

After the visit Siobhian Brown MSP said:
“The work SeAscape does is vital, and I am incredibly grateful for their tireless
efforts in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
“Their ‘Pass It On’ scheme is a lifeline for people moving into homes with
nothing and the Befriending Project provides much-needed social support,
helping prevent homelessness and isolation.
“I would encourage anyone who can donate household items, volunteer their
time, or support SeAscape’s services in any way to do so. Together, we can
help ensure that everyone in our community has the chance to build a safe and
stable life.”
SeAscape’s Chief Executive Kelsey Kane said:
“Within the past few years, we’ve seen demand for our services increase
dramatically. This has been due to a rise in the number of people presenting
with multiple and complex needs, many of whom are facing homelessness due
to the cost-of-living crisis and more people falling below the poverty line.
“Our vision is that everyone has a safe, secure place to call home and the
opportunity to thrive within their community. I would encourage anyone who
is struggling to get in touch to see what advice we can offer and how we can
help.”
