Ayr Rugby Club has announced the appointment of Frazier Climo to the newly created role of Youth Rugby Performance Director, a move aimed at strengthening the development of young players within the club.

Climo, a highly respected former player and current assistant coach of the 1st XV, will now take charge of the club’s youth section, overseeing player development from U13 to U18. His appointment aligns with his ongoing work with the Ayr Community Rugby Trust, which delivers rugby programmes to local schools, further integrating youth development within the community.

Building a Strong Future for Youth Rugby

Recognising the vital role that youth rugby plays in the club’s long-term success, Ayr Rugby Club is committed to providing young players with top-tier coaching and resources to maximise their potential. With phases 1 and 2 of the Millbrae redevelopment nearing completion, the club’s upgraded facilities will provide a first-class environment for young athletes.

“We know the future of Scottish Rugby depends on raising the standard of youth rugby, and we want to lead the way with everything we are doing at Millbrae,” a club spokesperson stated.

Climo to Take on U18 Head Coach Role

In addition to his new leadership role, Climo will also take on the position of Head Coach of the U18 team from next season, ensuring continuity in player development as they progress towards senior rugby.

Speaking about his appointment, Climo expressed his enthusiasm for the role:

“This is an incredibly exciting time at the club, and I look forward to working with our young players and existing coaches to take the youth section forward.”

Commitment to Excellence in Youth Development

With this latest strategic move, Ayr Rugby Club is reinforcing its commitment to fostering young talent and creating a structured pathway for players to develop and progress within the sport. By combining high-performance coaching with first-class facilities, the club aims to set a benchmark for youth rugby in Scotland.

As Ayr continues to invest in the next generation of players, the appointment of Climo marks a key step in ensuring the club’s long-term success—both on and off the pitch.
