The name change represents more than just a rebranding it reflects the evolution of the event itself. Over the years, the summer fair has become a cornerstone of Ayrshire’s cultural calendar, drawing locals and visitors alike to experience a vibrant mix of entertainment, community spirit, and tradition.

The new name “Summer fAYRe” cleverly pays homage to Ayr within its spelling, ensuring the event’s identity remains deeply rooted in its local heritage. The proposal for the name change will be put to the council members during a special meeting on Thursday 6th February.

In addition to embracing the area’s rich cultural history, the name highlights two key features that have become synonymous with the event Armed Forces Day and Pipes in the Park. Both have been integral parts of the celebration, offering stirring displays of musical talent, pageantry, and recognition of those who have served.

These elements ensure that the Summer fAYRe is not just a day of fun but also an event with meaning and depth.

The rebranding comes at a time when organizers are working to make the fair more inclusive and engaging for all members of the community. While the event’s roots in historical and religious tradition remain significant, the new name signals a desire to move forward, ensuring that everyone feels welcome to participate.
