Ayr’s festive season kicks off in style with the return of the annual Santa Dash on Sunday, December 15th, 2024. Starting at Ayr promenade near Pirate Pete’s, this fun-filled 5km dash will lead participants to Ayr Rugby Club’s home ground at Millbrae.
Organised by Ayr Rugby Club, Ayr United, and Ayr Cricket Club, the event is set to bring the community together for a great cause.
The Santa Dash is open to everyone, from walkers and joggers to seasoned runners. Participants are encouraged to use the event to support charities, local sports teams, or community groups. The most important thing, however, is to join in and enjoy the festive spirit.
Ayr Rugby Club Chairman Brian Williamson said:
“The Santa Dash is a fun event. We want to bring the whole community together for a fun event that can be used to raise money for good causes, whether that’s youth clubs, sports teams, or charities. It’s suitable for all ages and stages – everyone is welcome!”
Ayr United Managing Director Graeme Mathie added:
“Last year’s event was a great success despite the biblical rain. Nearly 200 runners took part, and thousands of pounds were raised! This year, we hope to make the Santa Dash even bigger and better.”

Participants can raise funds for their own chosen causes, while the entry fees will support headline charities: Ayrshire Cancer Support, The Ayrshire Hospice, and Harbour Ayrshire.
