Bikers bring Easter cheer and vital funds to young patients in University Hospital Crosshouse

Ayrshire’s biking community returned to the road this Easter weekend in support of local charity Crosshouse Children’s Fund, with the Hillbillies MCC raising over £3100 at their much-loved Easter Egg Run on Saturday, April 19.

Now in their 26th year, the Hillbillies rode in convoy from Mauchline to University Hospital Crosshouse, with their fundraising efforts supporting young patients in the maternity and neonatal units.

Over 100 bikers took part in the ride, joined by fellow clubs and solo riders. The sound of revving engines brought smiles and cheers as they arrived at the hospital, where they spent time meeting young patients, posing for photos, and spreading Easter cheer.

This year’s run was made even more special with a visit from the Craig Tara Seaside Squad, who helped welcome the bikers, as they arrived at the hospital. Also showing their support on the day were Kami Bear, mascot of Crosshouse Children’s Fund, and children’s entertainers Double Trouble, who added an extra splash of fun at the finish line.

The Hillbillies’ Easter Egg Run has taken place annually since 2003, with Crosshouse Children’s Fund among several organisations fortunate to receive support. This year’s fundraising total was given a generous boost by donations from two local businesses, Mauchline Community Association and Wilson & Drury Funeral Services.

In addition to the run itself, the Hillbillies MCC also hosted a Rock Night fundraiser on Saturday, April 12th, with all proceeds contributing to the final total.
