A group of Ayrshire businesses has rallied together to support River Garden, a charity based in Auchincruive that offers a unique and life-changing recovery program.

The organisation provides individuals in recovery with three years of structured support, helping them rebuild their lives through communal living and participation in on-site social enterprises.
However, the charity recently faced a serious setback when it was informed that its septic tank system was in breach of Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) regulations.
With funding already stretched thin, the necessary upgrades seemed out of reach, leaving the charity at risk of heavy fines and potential disruption to its vital work.
Recognising the urgency of the situation, Business Club Ayrshire stepped in to offer crucial support. The group, made up of local businesses, combined their expertise, resources, and time to resolve the issue.
Club members conducted site surveys, developed detailed plans, and created a long-term solution to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Using club funds to secure plant, machinery, and materials—alongside voluntary labour from members—they constructed a series of filtration trenches. This not only brings River Garden up to code but also future-proofs its facilities for years to come.

Beyond addressing the septic tank problem, Business Club Ayrshire also tackled another major challenge—repairing the badly eroded access road leading to the charity’s estate and café. By fixing potholes and reinforcing the road, they have ensured safe and secure access for residents, staff, and visitors.
Jardine Simpson, General Manager at River Garden, expressed his gratitude for the support:
“We are extremely grateful to Business Club Ayrshire for their continued generosity. Without such acts of kindness, we wouldn’t have been able to carry out the works.”
A spokesperson for the project highlighted the wider impact of River Garden:
“We have a truly unique facility here in the heart of Ayrshire, offering a proven system that changes lives—not just for our residents but for the entire community.
Our café and estate provide a welcoming space where people can enjoy Ayrshire’s beautiful woodlands while supporting a meaningful cause.”
Business Club Ayrshire is a membership-based organisation that brings local businesses together to network, collaborate, and support community initiatives.
Membership fees not only help run the club but also fund charitable projects like this one. The group’s core mission is to strengthen local business connections while making a tangible difference in Ayrshire.
Through this latest act of generosity, Business Club Ayrshire has once again demonstrated the power of community-driven action—helping ensure that River Garden can continue its life-changing work for years to come.
