Belmont Academy Campus Officer PC Stevie Gilmour recently joined 400 pupils in a fantastic charity fundraising event. S6 pupils from Belmont Academy's pupil led Community Aid Group, recently organised a fundraising event where approximately 400 pupils from the school cycled 15 minutes each on exercise bikes over the period of 1 week.
The idea was to collectively cycle enough miles to travel around Kenya, which they did! Campus Officer PC Gilmour said: “The pupils in the Community Aid Group are responsible for community based projects and fundraising events. Since they were set up they have raised more than £4000 which is an impressive amount. The charity cycle was a fantastic idea and I was delighted to be involved. The group have already got their next project planned and are hoping to collect food donations from the local community to provide to the local food bank.” On Friday (18th April 2016) the pupils and PC Gilmour presented a cheque for £1100 to 'South Ayrshire Care and Repair', a local charity which works with people over 60, helping them to live independently in their own home by providing help and advice with small repairs. The group are pictured presenting the cheque to representatives from 'South Ayrshire Care and Repair.
