Works have been ongoing since last year to relocate the service from Montgomerie Street to its new home at 17-19 Knockushan Street, Girvan.

To facilitate the move, the current library will close at 5pm on Friday 31 January, with any activities and events usually held over this period being postponed.

Girvan Library offers a fantastic range of services to customers, including access to a wide variety of digital and printed books, free public access to computers, free public Wi-Fi, a film room with upgraded equipment, and one of Scotland's first 'Reuse and Recycle' Hubs where everyday items can be upcycled.

The new library will now be open over lunchtime, providing an enhanced service for customers all day.

In addition to the internal alterations of the new building, the works have included enhancements to the rear carpark to allow this to be used as a flexible events space for the community.

Councillor Alec Clark, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs said:

"The library is an asset to the Girvan community, and I'm delighted that a date is now in place for the official move.

"The new location is much more accessible and the enhanced opening hours will really make a difference to our customers. I know how hard staff have been working behind the scenes to make this move a reality, and I'm looking forward to seeing the new facility when it opens."

An official opening event will be held at a later date.
