Local Msp Hears About All Things Audiology From In-store Experts During Specsavers Ayr Visit

The Audiology team at Specsavers in Ayr welcomed Ayrshire MSP Sharon Dowey for a visit last week to highlight how they help reduce pressure on local hospital and GP services.


Ms Dowey, was greeted by the store’s audiology director Thomas Allison, Peter Carson and Linda Fulton and was informed about how the team cares for the hearing health of customers in and around Ayr – including how the team can fit and repair hearing aids – by providing access to care on the high street.


Commenting, Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Sharon Dowey said:


“It was fantastic to meet the team at Specsavers Ayr and to see first-hand the amazing eye and hearing care they deliver for our community.


“By providing access to audiology services on Ayr High Street, Specsavers are improving health care here in Ayr all while reducing pressure on our local hospital and GP services – and I was delighted to see the positive impact this has on our community last week”.

“It was a pleasure to meet Ms Dowey in store and highlight the services that our dedicated audiology team here at Specsavers Ayr provide customers with each and every day.


‘We hope that this visit showcases the important offering we provide to the people of Ayr and how, through regular hearing tests and hearing aid fittings, we can help customers to hear better while also reducing pressure on local hospital and GP services. It was also great to be able talk to Sharon about the opportunity that exists to deliver more NHS audiology services in the community in future, as we already do for eye care.’


“The Specsavers audiology team in Ayr can provide adult hearing tests, as well as numerous audiology services such as hearing aid fittings and replacements, assisting customers with any hearing concerns they may have. The store also provides a range of eye health services to the local community.”
