Mass Vaccination Drop-in Clinic to be available in Troon on Sunday

NHS Ayrshire & Arran are offering a mass vaccination drop-in clinic to residents in South Ayrshire this week.

The drop-in clinic will be available at the following location for adults who have not yet received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, or received their first dose on or before 27 April 2021 and are waiting for their second dose.

  • Walker Hall, South Beach, Troon, KA10 6EF – Sunday 27 June – 8.30am – 7.30pm

Previous drop-in clinics have been very well-attended, therefore anyone attending should be prepared to wait. Please note, you cannot choose the type of vaccine you are given on the day. If you are under 40, you will be offered an alternative to the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine, subject to supply and clinical suitability.

The COVID-19 vaccine offers the best protection against coronavirus and NHS Ayrshire & Arran are inviting as many residents as possible to be vaccinated.

The mass vaccination drop-in clinics are being offered in response to the increase in local cases and prevalence of new variants in Ayrshire.

The vaccination programme continues at locations around Ayrshire by appointment and according to the prioritisation set out by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

Director of Public Health Lynne McNiven said:

“Getting vaccinated is likely to be the most important thing you do this year. Our teams and partners are working incredibly hard to deliver the vaccine to communities around Ayrshire to offer people the best protection we can against COVID-19.

“Drop-in clinics are just one thread of the blended approach we have to our vaccination programme. I’d encourage anyone – particularly anyone over 30 who has not yet had their first dose of vaccine – to take this opportunity to be vaccinated.

We also want those who’ve missed their second dose to come forward as it is having both doses of vaccine that maximises the protection you get against the virus.

“Remember that we cannot predict turnout at drop-in clinics, so on the day it could be that you need to wait to be seen by one of our vaccinators. Please keep an eye on our social media updates where you may get more details about the length of wait and any other important information. And remember to bring water and wear sunscreen if the sun is shining.

“I want to say thank you to every single person who has come forward for vaccine in Ayrshire since the programme began. Every jag is one step closer to getting back to something more like normal, for all of us.”
