Overnight Road Closures On A76 South Of New Cumnock Commences Sunday 23rd June

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential overnight resurfacing on the A76 at Blackwood Farm, south of New Cumnock, from Sunday 23rd June until Saturday 29th June.

The work will be carried out using overnight road closures between 7pm and 6am each night, and signed diversions will be in operation as follows:

  • Northbound A76 traffic will be diverted at Holestane Road near Drumlanrig Castle, to the A702 north of Carronbridge and will travel to the roundabouts at Abington to join the B7078. At the junction with the A70 Ayr Road vehicles will travel west to Cumnock to re-join the northbound A76 at Dettingen Roundabout.

  • Southbound A76 traffic will be diverted at Dettingen Roundabout to the A70 through Cumnock to the B7078 and then proceed to Abington, before taking the A702 south to Carronbridge. Traffic wishing to travel north on the A76 from here will be directed south to Thornhill roundabout where they will be able to turn.

The diversion is expected to take an additional 30 minutes. The A76 will be open during the day during these works with Temporary Traffic Lights in place to facilitate the cooling of deeper sections of treatment.

Due to road widths it is not possible to safely resurface the road without a full night-time road closure in place.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

Please note, all schemes are weather-dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
