Ayr are taking on Rangers in the Scottish Cup at Somerset Park in Ayr at 2.30pm today.
Additional traffic is expected in the area and drivers are being encouraged to allow sufficient time to get to the ground and to park responsibly.
Chief Inspector I’Anson, Area Commander for South Ayrshire, has now briefed officers who are heading out on patrol.
A spokesperson for Ayrshire Police Division said
“We have additional officers on patrol today at the ground, in the surrounding area and conducting checks at licensed premises to ensure safety.
“Visitors are reminded to wrap up warm - to dress for the weather, to please drink responsibly, keep the focus on the pitch and enjoy the match.
“With additional traffic in the area drivers are encouraged to plan ahead for their journey, to use public transport where possible and be patient.”
Anyone with specific concerns is encouraged to speak with officers on patrol in the area or to call Police Scotland on 101 (in an emergency always dial 999).
