Residents Can Pay Their Respects on Remembrance Sunday

North Ayrshire Provost Anthea Dickson has reminded people they can pay their respects to the fallen on Remembrance Sunday.

The aim of the day, held on the second Sunday in November, is for people to stand together and remember the service and sacrifice of all those who have lost their lives in various wars.

Tributes will be paid in our communities to those in the Armed Forces and crowds of people are expected to turn out at services across the local authority area.

Depute Provost John Sweeney will attend the parade and service in Irvine.

Provost Anthea Dickson Said:

"Every year, people from towns and villages across North Ayrshire stand together to acknowledge the sacrifices that have been made – and are still being made - by those men and women in our Armed Forces."

Details of this year’s Remembrance Sunday proceedings in Irvine on Sunday 12 November are:

  • 10.40am - parade assembles in High Street

  • 10.52am - parade departs for War Memorial, led by Irvine Pipe Band
