ScotRail has issued travel advice ahead of Rangers' crunch UEFA Champions League qualifier at Hampden Park.
The Ibrox club, currently playing their home matches at the national stadium, host Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv, at 19.45 on Tuesday, 13 August.
To help supporters travel to and from the match, ScotRail is adding more seats to trains to and from Mount Florida station. Fans using those services should expect longer queuing times and allow extra time for travel.
Regular customers should be aware that trains from Glasgow Central to Mount Florida will be much busier than normal prior to the game.
Fans are advised to make their way back to Mount Florida as quickly as possible after the final whistle, particularly if the match goes to extra time and penalties. Customers are also reminded that Mount Florida station can only be accessed from Cathkinview Road, and onto Bolton Drive via Clincart Road after the match.
ScotRail is currently operating a temporary timetable due to a shortage of train drivers being available for overtime or rest day working, as is their contractual right, as a result of a dispute over pay. The train operator is strongly advising customers to plan ahead and check their journey on the ScotRail app.
ScotRail is also encouraging customers to buy their train tickets in advance via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app.
Buying through the mTickets system means people can secure their tickets from the comfort of their home, or on the way to the station, and it will instantly become available on their mobile device, reducing their need to queue at the station.
Extra staff will be on hand to make sure everything goes smoothly, and the train operator is also reminding everyone that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said:
“We’re looking forward to helping fans travel by train to watch Rangers play Dynamo Kyiv at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.
“We’re adding more services and extra carriages to trains between Glasgow Central and Mount Florida to help supporters travel to and from the match, and we’ll have additional staff on hand to help.
“Our advice to customers is to leave extra time for travel as trains are likely to be busier than normal. Buying tickets in advance through our mTickets system will reduce your queuing time.
“Regular commuters who travel home from Glasgow on the line via Mount Florida should be aware that services will be much busier than normal with fans heading to the match.”
