Sharon Dowey MSP Hails Choir’s Festive Fundraising Efforts

South Scotland MSP Sharon Dowey has praised the efforts of Marr Cappella, a community choir based in Troon, after their successful Christmas concerts in aid of good causes.

The choir hosted two highly successful Christmas concerts in aid of two local charities: Ayrshire Baby Loss Support and Ayrshire Families with Diabetes, raising a total of £4,150.


Over the last 25 years, the choir has raised approximately £100,000 for local charities, good causes and initiatives, and regularly takes part in events across the area.



Sharon Dowey MSP visited the group at their annual dinner to present them with a Parliamentary motion, congratulating them on their successful concerts and recognising their charitable efforts.



The choir rehearse on Tuesday evenings at St Meddans Parish Church in Troon and are always on the lookout for new members.

Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP Sharon Dowey said: “It was a real pleasure to visit the Marr Cappella choir members and present them with a Parliamentary motion, recognising their fundraising efforts.



“Ayrshire Baby Loss Support and Ayrshire Families with Diabetes are two very worthy causes and I am glad that the Christmas concerts raised such an impressive amount.


“I look forward to seeing Marr Cappella continue to thrive and am sure we will see the group go from strength to strength.”




Marr Cappella Committee Chair Suzanne Maxton said: “It was a great surprise to hear that Sharon had recognised our fundraising concerts with a motion in Parliament.



“These are two fantastic charities that deserve support and I am glad we could all come together to highlight the excellent work they do.


“The choir is such a brilliant group of dedicated people, and I thank Sharon once again for recognising our efforts.”
