South Ayrshire Council's Registration Service is the best in Scotland when it comes to recording births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships.
The service received a fantastic accuracy rating of 99.47% following an examination of their records by staff from The National Records of Scotland (NRS).
The latest published figures for 2017 reveal an average of 97.85% on accuracy for Registrars across Scotland, a figure which has been eclipsed by the South Ayrshire team.
Each year, our registrars record thousands of events across South Ayrshire. They are present at some of the most important moments in our lives, so it's reassuring to know that their record keeping is spot on.
All of these life events must be captured accurately as the information is fed into the National Statistics Branch of the National Records of Scotland.
Councillor Philip Saxton, Housing and Community Wellbeing Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Congratulations to the team, it's extremely important to ensure the validity of these documents and there is a lot of pressure on the team to get them right.
"Once again, we are the most accurate in the country which reflects the professionalism and experience of the team. It's not an easy job as they are working with people at very emotional times in their lives.
"Our Registration Service has to constantly adapt to changing legislation, but despite this, they are still the most accurate in the country, well done to everybody involved."
