Makhan Singh’s journey began with the opening of The Jewel in the Crown in Kilmarnock, a venture that would grow into a beloved institution within the town. Known for its high standards and commitment to excellence, the restaurant became a pillar of the local dining scene, setting the tone for everything that followed. Over the years, Makhan’s unwavering discipline, tireless work ethic, and passion for his craft guided the success of his growing business empire.

In time, Makhan expanded his vision to The Jewel in Cumnock, and more recently, to The Lawthorn Farm, each venture marked by the same relentless pursuit of quality that became his hallmark. His establishments were not just places to eat or drink; they were reflections of his personal standards—where every detail was meticulously considered and every customer was treated with the utmost care.

Makhan’s success was not just in numbers, but in the deep relationships he built with his customers, staff, and the wider community. He was a mentor to many, a role model to all, and a friend to countless individuals who had the privilege of knowing him. His leadership inspired those around him to strive for excellence in everything they did.

Though Makhan is no longer with us, his legacy will continue to live on, not only in the businesses he built but in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of working with him, learning from him, and sharing in his vision. His dedication to maintaining the highest standards of service, quality, and care will always be remembered and cherished.

Makhan Singh’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to guide the future of the business he created. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, and all those who were touched by his life and legacy.

Makhan's funeral will take place on Tuesday 17th December at Clyde Coast & Garnock Valley Crematorium from 12pm
