Yellow warning for wind issued by the Met Office across Ayrshire ahead of storm Gareth

Strong northwesterly winds are expected during Tuesday night and Wednesday with possible transport disruption.

A spell of strong northwesterly winds is expected to develop across southwest Scotland late on Tuesday evening then extend across much of England and Wales through Wednesday.


Gusts of up to 50-55 mph are likely inland and 65 mph along western coasts. Winds will gradually ease during the afternoon.

Probably some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer


Delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely


Some short term loss of power and other services is possible It's likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities are affected by spray and/or large waves.
