A major £3.2 million expansion of Struthers Primary School in Troon has been officially opened.
Providing pupils and staff with four new classrooms and a range of additional learning facilities.
An official opening ceremony was held at the school on Wednesday, September 23, marking the completion of a project designed to accommodate Struthers Primary’s growing pupil roll.
Work on the extension began in July 2025 and was completed in time for the beginning of the 2026/27 school session.
The new development includes four classrooms, a new library, nurture room, multi-purpose open area, courtyard and covered outdoor teaching area.
Additional toilet facilities have also been provided as part of the expansion.
Improvements extend beyond the school building, with the upper school playground also enlarged and new facilities being introduced to encourage active travel and play.
The investment comes after the number of pupils attending Struthers Primary has grown steadily over the last decade, creating a need for additional accommodation.
Councillor William Grant, Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning, welcomed the completion of the project.
He said: “The new extension at Struthers Primary School is a very impressive facility and I’m delighted that the staff and pupils of the school can now reap the benefits of these incredible new spaces. I have no doubt that the addition of these facilities will have a positive impact on pupils learning and will foster a nurturing environment for many generations to come.”
The new facilities are now fully operational, giving Struthers Primary additional capacity as the Troon school continues to grow.
