Two Ayrshire entrepreneurs have launched a new private family album app designed to give families a safer and more personal way to share photos, videos and everyday memories.

Bunched has been created by Cameron Sim and Callum Stewart and is aimed at families and close groups of friends who want to stay connected without using traditional social media.

The app has no public profiles, followers or intrusive advertising, while the founders say users’ photos and videos are not used to train AI models.

The idea came from concerns that family memories are often scattered across busy group chats, social media feeds and mobile phone camera rolls.

Cameron Sim, co-founder of Bunched, said: “We realised there wasn’t a platform built specifically for modern families.

“Parents want to share their kids’ milestones with grandparents, families want to stay connected across different countries, and everyone wants somewhere to keep their memories organised.

“Existing platforms weren’t designed for that. They were designed for social networking. Bunched has been built purely for family and close friends.”

The platform has been built, branded and marketed entirely in Ayrshire by Cameron and Callum, with the pair spending the past year developing the concept, branding, illustrations and overall app experience.

One of its features is Grandparent Mode, which allows relatives who do not have the app to securely view shared family memories through a web link and PIN.

Every family group, known as a “bunch”, is invite-only, with users choosing exactly who can access their content.

The partnership behind the app began at the 2025 Ayrshire Business Awards, where Cameron and Callum met after both being shortlisted in the Start-up Business of the Year category.

Callum Stewart is the founder of Detalo Creative, which went on to win the Start-up Business of the Year award, while Cameron Sim leads PixelParty, an event technology platform used across more than 120,000 events worldwide.

Callum said: “Technology should help families feel closer, not further apart.

“We wanted to build something that gives people complete confidence to share life’s best moments, knowing they’ll only ever be seen by the people they choose.”

The founders believe growing concern around privacy, online safety and the use of artificial intelligence will increase demand for private digital spaces specifically designed for families.

Bunched officially launched on Monday, August 10 and is now available on iOS and Android.
