Ayrshire karate athlete Zack Ewart is celebrating international success after winning gold at the JKS World Karate Championships in Brazil.
Representing Scotland at an event featuring competitors from more than 40 nations, Zack became a Team Kumite World Champion after helping Scotland secure gold in the fighting event.
He also produced an outstanding performance in the Individual Kumite competition, reaching the final and adding a silver medal to his remarkable championship campaign.
Zack’s success in Brazil comes ahead of another major international challenge. He has been selected to represent the Scotland National Team at the World Karate Federation World Championships in Poland this October.
There was further success for Ayrshire as fellow Senjokai Karate Academy athlete Aiden Wyllie claimed a bronze medal, bringing the club’s total haul from Brazil to three world medals: one gold, one silver and one bronze.
Senjokai Karate Chief Instructor amd Scottish National Coach Liam Gallagher said:
