Ayrshire entrepreneur Hugh Mulgrew has unveiled another major milestone in the rapid growth of Corespace, with the acquisition of the historic Ettrick Riverside building in Selkirk.

Image The latest expansion comes just a few years after Hugh launched Corespace by transforming the former Ionnotti’s wholesalers building at 62 Viewfield Road in Ayr into a thriving hub for businesses and entrepreneurs.

Since then, Corespace has grown into one of Scotland’s fastest-expanding flexible workspace providers, with successful centres now operating in Ayr, Kilwinning, Kilmarnock and Dumfries.
One of the company’s standout success stories has been in Kilmarnock, where Hugh transformed a long-vacant building on Portland Street into a vibrant business centre that has helped bring around 100 jobs back into the town centre.

The development has attracted a wide range of businesses and organisations, including Barclays Eagle Labs, creating a hub for innovation, enterprise and economic growth. The success of the project earned Hugh recognition as a “High Street Hero” at the Scotland Loves Local Awards.

Now, Corespace has taken its vision beyond Ayrshire by adding the Category A-listed Ettrick Riverside building in Selkirk to its growing portfolio.
Built in 1835, the landmark property was once at the heart of the Scottish Borders’ world-famous textile industry, renowned for its pioneering manufacturing techniques and its contribution to the region’s prosperity.

Today, Hugh hopes to write the next chapter in the building’s history by transforming it into another thriving business community.
The building is already home to a number of established businesses and national brands, with further office space available for entrepreneurs, freelancers and growing companies.

Speaking about the latest acquisition, Corespace said: “Honouring history while building the future.
“We are incredibly proud to officially welcome the historic Ettrick Riverside into the Corespace family.

“While the machinery has changed, the spirit of innovation lives on. Corespace is here to drive local growth by delivering flexible, modern and affordable office spaces tailored for today’s entrepreneurs, freelancers and growing businesses.
“We aren’t just managing a building; we are stewarding a legacy of regional success.”

From the regeneration of a former wholesalers building in Ayr to breathing new life into prominent properties across Kilmarnock, Kilwinning, Dumfries and now Selkirk, Hugh Mulgrew’s vision continues to demonstrate how historic buildings can be transformed into modern workspaces that support business growth, create employment and revitalise town centres across Scotland.
