Members of the Good Vibes Choir came together for a special evening at The Abbotsford Hotel to celebrate the remarkable achievement of fellow choir member Anne Noble.
Anne, affectionately known as “SuperAnne”, completed an extraordinary 460-mile journey from Gretna to John o’ Groats to raise funds for the Ayrshire Hospice.
Following a fabulous dinner, Anne delivered an inspiring talk about the preparation, training and determination required to undertake the long-distance challenge across Scotland.
She shared slides showing some of the wonderful scenery she encountered along the way. However, it was when the full scale of her route appeared on the map that the room gasped.
Her journey included sections of the Southern Upland Way before crossing to the Ayrshire Coastal Path and continuing along the Clyde Coastal Path, the West Highland Way, the Great Glen Way and, finally, the John o’ Groats Trail.
Those gathered heard about the detailed logistics and planning behind the adventure, as well as the enormous physical and mental commitment required to complete it.
Anne’s presentation revealed that she covered 460 miles, took more than 1.1 million steps and climbed a total of 30,178 feet during the challenge, raising more than £6,000 for the Ayrshire Hospice.
Bea, known as The Music Lady, said Anne’s story left choir members utterly awe-inspired, adding that everyone was extremely proud of her remarkable achievement.
The evening also included a moving and personal speech from Nicholas Kirkpatrick, who spoke about his own experience with the Ayrshire Hospice and the important care and support it provides.
Paying tribute to Anne, Nicholas summed up the feelings of everyone in the room by saying: “Noble by name, noble by achievement.”
Anne continues to support the Ayrshire Hospice by volunteering at the welcoming café within its new hospice building on Tuesday mornings, where visitors may have the opportunity to meet “SuperAnne” for themselves.
Her achievement has also been recognised by Matt Innes of Wild Ritual Sauna in Dunure, who has generously gifted Anne a private sauna session for up to eight people at a time convenient to her.
The Good Vibes Choir meets every second Monday at The Abbotsford Hotel, with its next practice taking place at 7.30pm on Monday, September 7.
