Tesco Extends Kids Eat Free Scheme to Weekends This Summer
Tesco is extending its Kids Eat Free scheme to include weekends for the first time, giving more families the chance to save money during the summer holidays.
The offer will run seven days a week from June 25 until September 1, 2026, at more than 330 participating Tesco Cafés and Coffee Shops across the UK.
Families will be able to claim one free children’s meal with any full-price adult purchase by scanning a Tesco Clubcard.
The qualifying adult purchase can be as small as an apple costing 65p, and there is no limit on the number of children’s meals that can be claimed, meaning larger families can also benefit.
Free meal options include a Kids Hot Meal Deal, Kids Breakfast or Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal.
Breakfast choices include Egg and Soldiers, Beans and Soldiers and Pancakes, while hot meal options include Omega 3 Fish Fingers, Baked Chicken Strips and Pork Sausages.
The Kids Pick ‘n’ Mix deal includes a sandwich, drink, two snacks and a piece of fresh fruit.
Tesco is also reducing the standard price of children’s meals in its cafés and coffee shops this summer, supported by the UK Government’s Great British Summer Savings initiative, which includes reduced VAT on children’s meals, activities and family days out.
The supermarket will also bring back its Free Fruit for Kids scheme from July 20 until August 30.
During that period, children will be able to collect free apples from checkouts at more than 800 large Tesco stores and 77 larger Tesco Express stores.
Free apples will also be offered to Click and Collect customers with children at selected locations.
Tesco said the schemes form part of its wider effort to help families manage the cost of the summer holidays while encouraging children to eat more fruit and vegetables.
The company’s Free Fruit and Veg for Schools programme has supported more than 500 schools this year, providing free produce to help pupils reach their recommended five portions a day.
Since the programme began in 2024, Tesco says 15.7 million portions of fruit and vegetables have been donated.
The retailer hopes its school programme, in-store free fruit initiative and Fruit and Veg Grants will help one million children add more fruit and vegetables to their diets.
Families can also exchange Tesco Clubcard vouchers with selected Reward Partners, including PizzaExpress and Cineworld, to help reduce the cost of meals and days out during the holidays.
