Murray Gee Mac has cancelled his sold-out concert at Ardrossan Civic Centre, citing concerns about heating and access for audience members with mobility difficulties.

The singer and his band were due to perform on Saturday, 14 November 2026. Murray says the heating was restored the day after he cancelled, but concerns about the alternative outside access route remain while the platform lift is unavailable.
“Regardless of the heating, there is no way I’m putting my audience with mobility issues in the situation of having to leave the building and go up an outside ramp,” Murray said.
“Who knows what the weather could be like? Rain, snow, ice, wind. My audience comes first.”
Among those expected to attend were his 91-year-old father and friends with mobility difficulties. Murray said he had been told before cancelling that a firm guarantee about the outstanding works could not be provided until they were completed.
North Ayrshire Council approved £85,000 from the Ardrossan Common Good Fund on 11 February 2026, comprising £30,000 for modernising the boiler and heating system and £55,000 for a new lift and associated works.
In its earlier response to ADN, the council said an unexpected issue with the boiler-house flue had delayed the heating works. A specialist contractor had been engaged, with completion expected by mid-October.
“Based on the current programme, we anticipate that events planned for November will be able to proceed as scheduled,” a spokesperson said.
The council confirmed the platform lift remained out of service and would be replaced, but gave no completion date. It said alternative accessible arrangements were available, customers were advised of these when booking, and staff could assist visitors.
“We would encourage visitors with specific needs to discuss these needs in advance with our booking office staff,” the spokesperson added.
Murray thanked supporters after the concert sold out seven weeks in advance and said all tickets purchased through TicketSource would be fully refunded.
