Something wicked is brewing on Grange Street, and it comes with guitars, karaoke and £500 worth of costume prizes.

Brass & Granite in Kilmarnock is preparing to raise the spirits with its Killieween Weekender, bringing three days of entertainment from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November.
With acoustic performances, a live band, DJ sets and a spooky Sunday quiz, the venue’s Halloween line-up offers plenty of reasons to gather your fellow creatures of the night.

And for anyone plotting a particularly frightening entrance, there is an extra incentive to get creative with the costume.
The venue is advertising best-costume prizes of £300, £150 and £50 in bar vouchers, giving those carefully crafted monsters, witches and other terrifying creations something to compete for.

The entertainment begins on Friday 30 October, when David McKay kicks off proceedings with an acoustic set from 5pm to 7pm.
Chloe Marie then takes over from 7pm to 9pm, keeping the live music flowing as the opening evening gathers pace.

From 9pm until close, Scott Russell takes charge of the DJ and karaoke entertainment. Whether your singing casts a spell or sends a shiver down the room, Friday offers the chance to step up to the microphone and join the fun.

On Saturday 31 October, Halloween itself brings another full programme, beginning with Hugh Currie’s acoustic set from 4pm to 6pm.
Scott Russell follows with DJ and karaoke from 6pm to 8pm, warming things up before live band Slutcake take over at 8pm, playing through until close.

For those who like their Halloween soundtrack loud and lively, Saturday’s combination of acoustic music, karaoke and a live band should provide plenty to sink their teeth into.
But the weekend’s final act will put a different part of the body to work.

On Sunday 1 November, Faz hosts the Big Spooky Quiz, offering a chance to gather a team and discover whose brain is still functioning after the Halloween celebrations.
A little knowledge could prove useful. A team full of zombies might have its limitations.
Across the three days, the Killieween Weekender brings together live music, audience participation and a costume competition with a tempting haul of bar vouchers.

So, dust off the vampire cape, perfect that witch’s cackle and decide whether your karaoke voice is ready to be unleashed.
The Killieween Weekender takes place at Brass & Granite, 53 Grange Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 2DD, from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November.
The spirits may be restless, but the musicians certainly have a busy weekend ahead.
