To celebrate the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games taking place from 23 July – 2 August, colleagues across South Ayrshire Council organised a virtual baton relay.
In place of the usual larger scale baton relay, the virtual route begins at Ballantrae Primary School, taking in key landmarks synonymous with South Ayrshire and visiting various community groups along the way before finishing at Dundonald Castle.
The baton was expertly crafted by Adam Mitchell from Property Maintenance and beautifully designed by Holly Bates from the Destination South Ayrshire team.
Colleagues from the Council’s Thriving Communities, Destination South Ayrshire and Sport, Leisure & Golf services liaised with partner groups and organisations to help transport the baton from each location, highlighting South Ayrshire’s strong links with sport and culture.
