South Scotland MSP Katie Hagmann has visited one of Ayrshire’s leading manufacturers to learn more about its operations, workforce and role in the local economy.
The MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley toured Land Energy’s 14-acre site just outside Girvan last week, taking in the company’s production facilities and wood storage areas.
During the visit, Ms Hagmann met John Lancaster, Head of Sales and Logistics; Nicola Taylor, Head of Products; Fiona Lancaster, Head of Bulk Sales; and Steven Baillie, Girvan Operations Site Lead.
Senior staff also delivered a presentation covering Land Energy’s history, its range of products and the people behind the business. Discussions included the economic challenges facing the biomass industry and the wider South Ayrshire area.
Katie Hagmann MSP said: “Land Energy is a business with sustainability at its heart. It has been incredible to hear about the opportunities the company is taking, but also its work in supporting the local community.
“Having really good employment opportunities is key to building the local economy, and Land Energy is doing just that. I’d like to thank the team for a fantastic visit to the site.”

Founded in 2006, Land Energy is now the UK’s largest producer of sustainable wood pellets and briquettes, supplying low-carbon renewable fuel to homes and businesses across the country.
The company also manufactures sustainable cat litter and horse bedding, alongside Solivita, its innovative fungal-based soil conditioner.
