It was all for a special celebrity charity golf day and sporting lunch, with organisers aiming to raise £50,000 for three children’s charities.

The prestigious Turnberry Titans Celebrity Charity Golf Day & Sporting Lunch brought together stars from football, rugby, cycling, curling and other sports for a day combining championship golf, entertainment and fundraising.

Set against the spectacular Ayrshire coastline, the event offered guests the opportunity to play golf alongside sporting celebrities before enjoying an afternoon of hospitality, interviews and a charity auction.

Among the sporting personalities announced for the occasion were Scottish football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, former Scotland national team manager Steve Clarke, former Rangers striker Kris Boyd and former Celtic and Scotland star Frank McAvennie.

Clarke, who is originally from Saltcoats and previously managed Kilmarnock, stepped down as Scotland boss in June 2026 following the national team’s exit from the FIFA World Cup, bringing an end to his seven-year tenure.

The impressive sporting line-up also included former Scotland rugby captain Greig Laidlaw, rugby international Bryan Redpath, Olympic cyclist Jack Carlin and world champion curler Hammy McMillan.

Other familiar sporting names announced included Olympic swimming champion Duncan Scott OBE, former Celtic players Simon Donnelly and Andy McLaren, Derek Stark and Dougie Hall.

A Spectacular Setting for a Worthwhile Cause

With Turnberry recognised internationally as one of Scotland’s most prestigious golfing destinations, the event provided an impressive setting for a fundraising occasion designed to make a real difference to children’s lives.

Golfers were offered the opportunity to take on three of Turnberry’s courses, including the famous Championship Ailsa, King Robert the Bruce and the new Trump’s Twelve course.

Those playing the Ailsa had the opportunity to be joined by a sporting celebrity, while the Trump’s Twelve experience featured the chance to compete for a £10,000 hole-in-one prize.

The day’s programme began with a welcome breakfast before golfers headed out onto the courses, with the sporting lunch scheduled for the afternoon.

Following the golf, guests were invited to gather in the resort’s magnificent Grand Ballroom for a three-course sporting lunch.

Broadcaster Eilidh Barbour and PGA professional Andrew Murray were announced as hosts for interviews with the sporting personalities, giving guests the opportunity to hear stories and experiences from some of Scotland’s most recognisable names in sport.

A charity auction, conducted by Alex Fleming, also formed part of the afternoon’s fundraising programme.

Three Children’s Charities to Benefit

At the heart of the event was a commitment to supporting three charities providing important services to children and families.

Whiteleys Retreat, based in Ayrshire, provides respite experiences for children, young people and their families affected by cancer and other life-altering illnesses.

Honeypot Children’s Charity supports young carers and vulnerable children, offering opportunities for respite, emotional support and positive childhood experiences.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is internationally recognised for its pioneering work in the treatment and research of childhood cancer and other serious illnesses.

Organisers set an ambitious fundraising target of £50,000, with support from participating golfers, businesses, sporting personalities and guests attending the lunch.

The event was also an opportunity for the business and sporting communities to come together, using the appeal of some of Scotland’s best-known sporting figures to generate financial support for organisations making a difference to children’s lives.

Ayrshire on the Sporting Map

Trump Turnberry’s reputation as a world-class golfing destination provided a fitting backdrop for the occasion.

Overlooking the Firth of Clyde, with spectacular views towards Ailsa Craig and the Isle of Arran, the resort continues to attract visitors and sporting personalities from across the United Kingdom and beyond.

For the children and families supported by these charities, the money raised has the potential to make a meaningful difference.
