Troon Men’s Shed has secured a significant boost after South Ayrshire Council approved its Community Asset Transfer application for the Hosiery Park Pavilion.

The decision, confirmed on Tuesday, June 16, marks a major milestone for the organisation following 19 months of work, consultation and engagement with the local community.
The approval paves the way for the group to continue plans to transform the pavilion into a permanent home for Troon Men’s Shed, creating a dedicated space for members and future activities.
Representatives of the Shed have thanked members, local organisations and funding partners who supported the application throughout the process.
Community groups and partner organisations provided letters of support, while funders recognised the positive impact the Shed continues to have within the local community.
The project now moves into its next phase, with planning, negotiations and fundraising efforts set to continue. Significant investment will be required to carry out repairs and redevelopment work on the building before it can become the group’s long-term base.
Members say the council’s decision represents the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Troon Men’s Shed and have pledged to keep supporters updated as progress continues on the ambitious project.
The Hosiery Park Pavilion is expected to become a focal point for the organisation’s activities, providing a permanent community facility for current and future generations of members.
