The winners of the 2026 Girvan Golf Classic have been announced following three days of competitive golf on the South Ayrshire coast.
The 37th edition of the popular tournament took place from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, September 27, attracting amateur golfers from across the country to Girvan Golf Course.
Open to players holding a recognised World Handicap System (WHS) Handicap Index, the event saw competitors battle it out across three divisions for some of the tournament’s most prestigious trophies.
Stephen Stamper, of Turnberry Golf Club, was crowned overall champion with a score of 196, securing the Carrick Herald Quaich.
In Division 1, for players with handicaps between 0 and 13.9, Louis Alberts, of Troon St Meddans Golf Club, claimed the Ailsa Shield with a score of 199.
David Rankin, of Loudoun Gowf Club, won Division 2, covering handicaps from 14 to 28, with a score of 203. He takes home the Maggie Milligan Trophy.
Councillor Chris Cullen, South Ayrshire Council’s Leisure and Community Services Policy Lead, congratulated the winners and everyone involved in this year’s competition.
He said: “The Girvan Golf Classic is a prestigious and much-loved fixture in South Ayrshire’s sporting calendar, and it is always fantastic to welcome golfers from across the country for three days of first-class competition on Girvan’s outstanding course.
“Congratulations to all this year’s winners and everyone who took part. The standard of golf was exceptional, and I would like to thank our dedicated staff and organisers for delivering another memorable event which showcased Girvan as a superb golfing destination.”
The Girvan Golf Classic has now completed its 37th staging, continuing its place as a well-established event in South Ayrshire’s golfing calendar.
