People across Ayrshire and Arran will be encouraged to explore their career options when Scottish Careers Week returns from 9 to 13 November.

Under the theme “Shape the Future”

The national campaign will bring educators, employers, community organisations and careers professionals together to help people make informed decisions about learning, skills and work.

Throughout the week, local partners will be encouraged to share career stories, promote activities and support conversations in classrooms, workplaces and communities.

For schools and educators, the campaign offers an opportunity to connect learning with the world of work and highlight the different routes available to young people. Employers can showcase their industries, explain the skills they need and help people understand opportunities on their doorstep.

The campaign comes as artificial intelligence, the transition to net zero, demographic changes and wider economic pressures reshape the labour market.

It will highlight how careers advice, employer insight and local partnerships can support both young people taking their first steps and adults considering a change of direction.

Claire Tooze, Skills Development Scotland Area Manager for Ayrshire, said:

“People across our communities are making important decisions about learning, skills and work in a rapidly changing world. Scottish Careers Week is a chance to bring local careers support, employers, educators and community organisations together, helping people understand the opportunities available on their doorstep and beyond.

“By connecting people with trusted advice, local insight and real experiences of work, we can help them build confidence and turn their ambitions into practical next steps.”

Businesses across Ayrshire and Arran can take part by hosting or supporting an event, sharing an employee’s career story, offering practical advice or promoting employment and training opportunities.

Organisations can also register activities through the Scottish Careers Week campaign hub on My World of Work, where resources and ideas are available.

Charandeep Singh BEM, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:

“Scottish Careers Week is a timely moment for employers to promote the variety of career pathways they offer as part of the process of ensuring future talent, and those transitioning mid-career, know what skills are required and where the opportunities are.

“Since the campaign week’s inception, the Scottish Chambers has purposefully connected with our network members, careers professionals and educators to ensure we’re working together in partnership to best support awareness of the exciting opportunities available across Scotland’s multiple industries and regions.”
