Theresa May has admitted responsibility for the Conservative Party’s disastrous election result, telling a meeting of backbench MPs. Via an MP tweet, she said: "I got us into this mess, and I'm going to get us out."
The Prime Minister’s comments came during a gathering of the 1922 Committee in Westminster.
