Families from across Ayrshire and beyond gathered at Kay Park in Kilmarnock for Ayrshire360’s annual Playday celebration.

The free community event, held on Wednesday, August 5, offered a wide range of activities for children of all ages and abilities.
Despite unsettled weather, organisers reported a strong turnout as families enjoyed canoeing on the pond, bungee trampolines, inflatables, Total Wipeout, crate climbing, sports and a water slide.

Arts and crafts, messy play and a variety of other activities were also available throughout the day.
Playday celebrates every child’s right to play and highlights the importance of ensuring children have opportunities to play wherever they live.
Organisers said play is an essential part of everyday childhood and can have a significant impact on children’s happiness, health and wellbeing. Supporting play can also help create positive outcomes for young people and build communities in which children can thrive.
A number of local services and partner organisations attended the event, providing information and speaking with families through dedicated stalls.
Ayrshire360 thanked everyone who attended and helped make the 2026 celebration a success.
Those who were unable to complete the event evaluation on the day are being encouraged to submit their feedback, which will be used to help organisers improve future Playday events.
