An artist from Sundrum near Ayr is celebrating after one of her paintings was selected for the prestigious Discerning Eye exhibition in London.
Mandy Risino’s work will be exhibited from 13 to 21 November, with two further paintings also set to feature in exhibitions in Girvan and Florence.
One will be displayed at the McKechnie Institute in Girvan from 3 November until 16 January, while another will feature at Expo Metro in Florence, Italy, on 28 and 29 November.
Mandy credits much of her growing confidence and success to Dunure art class, led by artist Tom Rennie, where she has developed her skills over the past two years.
She said: “Two years ago I wouldn’t have dreamed of submitting my art to exhibitions. The confidence and technical skills I have developed in the last couple of years is amazing.”
Mandy praised the supportive teaching environment and Tom’s approach, which encourages members to explore their own interests and develop their individual styles.
She said: “He focuses on allowing everyone to work on their own particular areas of enthusiasm, not the normal ‘see one, do one’ approach to art classes. That means we are all very individual in our approach.”
The London selection forms part of a busy period for Mandy, whose forthcoming exhibitions will bring her work to audiences locally and overseas.
