An awkward, unused room has been transformed into a cutting-edge home golf simulator by Lairds of Troon, after owner Mark saw the potential in a space many would have overlooked.
Just three days earlier, the narrow room, with doors at either end and very little space to work with, appeared destined to become nothing more than a conventional home office. Instead, Mark envisioned something far more exciting.
Rather than creating another workspace, Lairds of Troon designed and installed a bespoke golf simulator that allows the homeowner to switch from work to the fairway in moments, with access to thousands of golf courses from around the world.
The transformation required meticulous planning and precision engineering. Every aspect of the installation was carefully considered, from the positioning of the impact screen and projector to the placement of the launch monitor, sight lines, aspect ratio and discreet cable management.
Mark explained that while many of the hundreds of technical decisions made during the installation are never noticed, they are what ensure the simulator works flawlessly from the very first shot.
The completed system is powered by a Garmin R50 launch monitor, GSPro golf simulation software and a purpose-built high-performance gaming PC, delivering a realistic golfing experience from the comfort of home.
Mark said the company’s passion extends far beyond selling equipment.

With the simulator installation complete, the next phase of the project will focus on designing the room around the technology, creating a stylish entertainment space that complements the high-end golfing experience.
