The school’s “Around the World in an Afternoon” event gave children the chance to discover different countries and cultures without leaving the classroom.

Pupils “visited” China, the Philippines, France, Scotland and Mexico, taking part in activities designed to encourage language learning and celebrate cultural diversity.

Food was also on the itinerary, with children enjoying croissants while learning about France, trying fortune cookies during their visit to China and making cranachan as they explored Scotland.

Parents joined the celebrations to lead sessions in Afrikaans and Spanish, introducing pupils to languages spoken within their own school community.

Throughout the afternoon, children learned new words and phrases, asked questions and shared their knowledge, exploring similarities and differences between countries.

Class teacher Amelie Davidson said: “Our European Day of Languages celebrations gave our pupils a wonderful opportunity to learn from one another and explore the different languages and cultures within our school community.

“It was lovely to welcome parents into school to share their language skills and see our pupils’ enthusiasm for learning new words and phrases. Thank you to our staff, pupils and families for making the day such a success.”
