Killie Kin Care East Ayrshire is a peer support group that meets every Thursday from 11am to 1pm at 31A Titchfield Street in Kilmarnock.

The group provides support and a very warm welcome to kinship carers who live in East Ayrshire.

Kinship is when family or friends step up to help raise a child when they can’t live with their parents. They step up out of love and ensure that children are safe, remain connected to their family and surrounded by people who know them.

While it is a very rewarding journey it can also be lonely, overwhelming and exhausting. Killie Kin Care East Ayrshire provide a listening ear, advice and support.

It is a very relaxed environment where conversation and peer support takes place each week over a coffee or a cup of tea.

Libby Shekleton from Killie Kin Care East Ayrshire said: “Everyone is welcome to join our group, whether you're new to kinship or have been doing this for years. You belong here and we'd love to see you.”

At their most recent meeting, the group visited SL33 to learn more about the service and the support the team can provide to the children and young people in their care.
